Reconciliations & Breaks: Turning Exceptions into Actionable Workflows
A sample BA case study focused on cash, position, and transaction breaks; exception aging; root-cause tracking; ownership; and resolution workflow.
This section is being developed as a sample case study showing how reconciliation exceptions can be converted into structured business requirements and operational workflows.
The case study will examine how internal books and records are compared against custodian, accounting, or external source records to identify differences in cash, positions, transactions, income, or reference data. It will show how breaks can be categorized, aged, assigned, investigated, resolved, and reported.
Planned focus areas include:
• Cash, position, and transaction reconciliation
• Break classification and prioritization
• Exception aging and escalation rules
• Root-cause analysis categories
• Ownership assignment and resolution workflow
• Dashboard and reporting requirements
• Sample user stories, acceptance criteria, and UAT scenarios
