Platform Modernization: Legacy Workflows to Scalable Architecture
A sample BA case study focused on current-state analysis, future-state design, integration requirements, API touchpoints, data migration, and UAT planning.
This section is being developed as a sample case study showing how a Business Systems Analyst can support modernization efforts across legacy applications, workflow platforms, integration layers, APIs, batch processes, and downstream reporting systems.
The case study will demonstrate how current-state processes can be decomposed into business capabilities, data flows, integration points, rules, controls, and user journeys. It will also show how future-state requirements can support scalable platforms, API-based integrations, workflow automation, and improved operational transparency.
Planned focus areas include:
• Current-state workflow and system assessment
• Future-state business capability mapping
• Application-to-application integration requirements
• API, batch, file-based, and event-driven integration patterns
• Data migration and reconciliation considerations
• Risk, control, and UAT planning
• Sample user stories, acceptance criteria, and UAT scenarios
