Reference Data: Creating a Trusted Golden Record

A sample BA case study focused on security master data, vendor feeds, survivorship rules, data quality checks, and downstream consumer impact.

This section is being developed as a sample case study showing how reference data and product mastering support trading, operations, risk, reporting, and client-facing processes.

The case study will explore how data from multiple vendor and internal sources can be standardized, validated, matched, mastered, and distributed as a trusted golden record. It will also show how a Business Systems Analyst can document field definitions, source priority rules, exception workflows, and downstream usage requirements.

Planned focus areas include:
• Security master and product reference data
• Vendor feed onboarding and field mapping
• Identifier mapping across CUSIP, ISIN, SEDOL, FIGI, and internal IDs
• Golden record and survivorship logic
• Data quality rules and exception handling
• Downstream consumers across operations, risk, reporting, and client platforms
• Sample user stories, acceptance criteria, and UAT scenarios
